Four Natural Treatments for Diabetes

By: aron wallad

There is something to be said for a diabetes natural treatment. Why is a natural treatment so important? My concern is about how drugs interact with the body and other drugs in the body. And while taking some herb or natural remedy can have a negative interaction just like a medication, I have not heard of any.

With medicines I cannot make that same claim. For me and maybe you as well natural remedies seem safer. As part of my diabetes treatment I want something that is natural.

Eating consciously and exercising are two strong suits that make up a solid natural diabetes treatment.

There are also some herbs that are worth their weight in sugar, I mean gold, that can address your blood sugar and create a safer blood sugar level for you.

Here are a few herbs that are good natural treatments for diabetes.

One of my favorite herbs is Cinnamon because of its many uses and variety of benefits. Cinnamon improves the digestion of fruits, milk, and other dairy products. Cinnamon is also good for bloating, gas, poor digestion, arthritis, anemia, painful menstrual periods, and diarrhea.

A human study published in Diabetes Care looked at 60 people with type 2 diabetes, 30 men and 30 women with an average age of 52. The researchers concluded that "The results of this study… suggest that the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases."

I like eating Cinnamon in a few different ways. Hmm good on a sliced piece of apple. In apple sauce, on a piece of toast or in some oatmeal. One way I love in taking the herb is in tea. No need to add sugar, just have the tea. This is a delight.

Another effective natural diabetes treatment is North American Ginseng. One of the hallmarks of diagnosing type 2 diabetes is a positive result on the glucose tolerance test, an elevation in blood sugar level two hours after ingesting a dose of glucose. How does your glucose level respond two hours after eating is the key question? In their analysis, the researchers found that subjects receiving a 3g dose of ginseng had a blood sugar level that was 59.1% less than subjects who had received the placebo treatment. Hey I like this ginseng. What about you?

Magnesium has proven to be an asset to the body for a quite a few reasons. This trace mineral found in nuts, seeds, whole grains and green leafy vegetables and many nutritional supplements is ideal for helping regulate blood sugar levels. Low magnesium levels may deteriorate blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes. This one diabetes natural treatment also helps with blood pressure, nerve and muscle function.

When considering using any of these natural diabetes treatments it would be wise for you to consult with your primary care provider. You want to be safe.

As part of your thorough diabetes treatment using herbs is one of the areas that will help you acquire some power over this disease. Having a well rounded program that touches on all the areas of concern about the ailment that includes diet, foods not to eat and exercise will help in your quest for control of this potent illness as well.

Treating Diabetes with Exercise

When the pancreas produces too little or no insulin that is called type l diabetes. Someone with diabetes type I will have to inject insulin during the day for sound glucose levels. Type II diabetes, also known as adult onset diabetes, is characterized by the pancreas not creating adequate amounts of insulin to control glucose levels. Or the cells are not responding to insulin. When a cell does not respond to insulin, it is known as insulin resistance.

When a subject is diagnosed coupled with type II diabetes, exercise and weight control are given as measures to relieve the insulin resistance. If this does not control glucose levels, then medication is prescribed.

Move around. Treating diabetes with exercise is part of the program. Lack of movement has been a strong indicator that diabetes could be at hand. Type 1 cannot be controlled coupled with exercise. Ninety percent of those that have diabetes have type 2 which can be treated that has athletics.

The risk factors for type II diabetes:
Inactivity, high cholesterol, obesity, and hypertension. Inactivity alone is a very strong risk stimulus that has been proven to lead to diabetes type II. Exercise will have a positive effect on diabetes type II while improving insulin sensitivity while type I cannot be controlled be an exercise program.

My weekly agenda for treating diabetes includes exercising. I train at least three to four times a week. Riding the stationary bike and playing basketball keeps my cardio level up. This is resourceful for treating diabetes because it helps blood flow.

Treating diabetes inclusive of exercise helps utilize glucose faster, which lowers blood sugar. The more robust the exercise, the sooner the body will utilize glucose. Therefore it is important to understand the differences in training that has type I and type II diabetes. It is important for a person who has diabetes to get together with a physician when starting an athletics program. It is critical to understand the dangers of injecting insulin immediately prior to working

If you have type I diabetes injecting your normal measure of insulin for a sedentary situation can pose the risk of hypoglycemia or insulin shock during athletics. The course of action for type I are as follows: allow adequate break during athletics sessions to avert high blood pressure.

Also use low impact exercises and steer clear of huge weight lifting, and always have a supply of carbohydrates at hand. If blood sugar levels get too low, you may feel shaky, disoriented, hungry, anxious, become irritable or experience trembling. Consuming a carbohydrate snack or beverage will alleviate these symptoms in a matter of minutes.

Athletics will greatly benefit you if you have type II diabetes because of its positive effects on insulin sensitivity. Proper exercise and nutrition are the best forms of prevention for type II diabetics. It is essential for training practices to be repeated almost daily to support sustaining insulin sensitivity. To prevent hypoglycemia, progressively work up to a tough workout.

I hope these pointers have been beneficial for treating diabetes. Only yesterday using some exercise program for treating diabetes make sure you have taken the right precautions before compelling ahead.

I have shared a few ways for treating your diabetes in this article. Take a look at what is available in the resource box to aid you further. Grab your free diabetes e course. It will help you develop a comprehensive diabetes natural solutions plan.

Does Stress Lead to Increased Diabetes Risk?

By: Jacob Gan

It is believed that improperly unmanaged stress is a major determinant in almost all illness conditions. Does stress also leads to diabetes? Let us investigate.

There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus is also known as juvenile diabetes because it starts in children and young adults. It is due to insufficient amount of insulin being produced (known as insulin deficiency). Since it does not start later in life, we can safely conclude that type 1 diabetes mellitus is unlikely to be caused by stress.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus usually occurs later in life, after the age of forty. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes mellitus, the problems arise because

1. Either the body does not produce enough insulin, or 2. The insulin produced is ignored by the cells in the body (known as insulin resistance), or both.

Discussion on what insulin is and what the roles it plays is in order.

Insulin is a hormone that regulates carbohydrate metabolism (and to some extent fat metabolism as well). Insulin helps the body to use sugar. Sugar is the basic source of energy for the cells in the body, and insulin takes the sugar from the blood into the cells.

When we say blood sugar, we refer to glucose in the blood because glucose is the main type of simple sugar in our blood. Our body needs to have glucose level controlled to within a narrow range (0.7-1.1 mg per ml). Below 0.7 mg per ml is termed "hypoglycemia", and above 1.8 mg per ml is termed "hyperglycemia". Both can result in problems as we shall see later.

When there is more glucose in the blood, more insulin is secreted into the blood, resulting in cells (muscle cells, red blood cells and fat cells) absorbing the glucose out of the blood, thus reducing the blood glucose level.

When there is less glucose in the blood, more glucagon (counter part of insulin) is secreted into the blood, stimulating liver to release the glucose it has stored in its cells into the blood stream, thus increasing blood glucose. Glucagon also induces the liver and some of the muscle cells to produce glucose out of protein.

If the glucose does not go into cells, instead it builds up in the blood, two problems arise. Firstly, if the cells do not get the glucose they need, they die. Secondly, prolong period of high blood glucose levels may hurt your eyes, kidneys, nerves or heart. Insulin is used to treat this "hyperglycemia" aspect of diabetes.

"Hypoglycemia" or low blood glucose level condition can happen when more insulin is introduced than there is food in the stomach to be acted on. This often happens when a patient injects insulin in anticipation of food consumption, but the food consumption is delayed or insufficient food is consumed. Symptoms of "hypoglycemia" include strange behavior, clumsy or jerky movements, seizure, confusion, tingling sensations around the mouth, dizziness, sweating, headache etc.

Now that we understand the mechanics of diabetes, is there anything to suggest that stress can cause diabetes (type 2)?

The usual reason explaining where stress lead to sickness is the weakening of our immunity system caused by stress. However, diabetes is not caused by weak immunity system.

Psychological stress caused by the death of a spouse, a financial crisis or other life-altering event has been associated with higher risk of developing diabetes in middle age. Many studies have shown that the abovementioned types of major life events were associated with type 2 diabetes regardless of family history of the disease, exercise or alcohol use. However, although such circumstantial evidence seems to suggest a link between a higher proportion of people under greater stress and diabetes, we cannot conclude that stress cause diabetes.

There is a theory that says that stressful life events increase the diabetes risk by increasing levels of the hormone cortisol and decreasing levels of sex steroids such as testosterone, which have been shown to influence the action of insulin.

Some researchers have tried to determine whether stress, which can be measured using the ratio cortisol/testosterone, affects insulin resistance. In the prospective study by George Davey Smith and colleagues from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, cortisol/testoterone ratio was positively associated with IHD (ischemic heart disease) mortality and incidence. Adjustment for potential socioeconomic and behavioral confounding variables had little influence on these associations, but they appeared to be mediated by components of the insulin resistance syndrome (elevated blood pressure, triglyceride levels, body mass index, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and impaired glucose tolerance). This suggests that methods of reducing the cortisol/testoterone ratio may improve insulin resistance and reduce the risk of ischemic heart disease (IHD). But, it does not suggest that reducing stress can reduce the risk of diabetes.

More conclusive research findings will be needed before we can conclude that stress does indeed lead to diabetes.

Do You Show Symptoms of Diabetes?

By: Eunice Gaelek

Diabetes is a disease that renders the body unable to control sugars in the blood. Some patients have type 1 diabetes, while others suffer from the type 2 diabetes. The diseases are similar, differing only in the speed at which they manifest.

Type 1 diabetes symptoms develop relatively quickly. This form of diabetes is caused by an autoimmune response within the body. This response creates an attack on the valuable beta cells that are found in the pancreas. In the case of type 1 diabetes, there is no insulin being produced. Therefore, the symptoms develop rapidly and the disease worsens very quickly. Without early diagnosis and proper treatment a person suffering type 1 diabetes can quickly fall into a diabetic coma. This irreversible condition causes the patient to face a lifetime of insulin supplements.

The situation is quite different with type 2 diabetes. In this form of the disease, some insulin is still being produced. There is a natural release of insulin, however it may not be enough for the body to process, or the cells may have become resistant and unable to utilize the available insulin. In type 2 diabetes the symptoms develop more slowly and grow progressively worse over an extended period of time, and it may be years before a diagnosis is in place.

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes present similar symptoms. You must be aware of the signs, and speak with your doctor if you feel that you might be developing diabetes.

* Persistent Thirst: A consistent feeling of thirst may indicate the progression of diabetes. This can also be caused by other factors, but it's worth talking to your doctor to rule out the possibility of diabetes.

* Lethargy and Drowsiness: Fatigue is a common complaint for anyone with a busy lifestyle. If you're often drowsy and lack energy, however, you should point this out to your doctor.

* Frequent Need to Urinate: Drinking more naturally leads to frequent urination. Diabetes is one of many conditions that can cause frequent urination, so check with your doctor to be sure. If the urine smells sweet, it may indicate that higher levels of sugar are present in your system

* Changes in vision: High blood glucose levels can cause damage to smaller blood vessels. This, in turn, can cause damage to the sensitive structure of the eye. Any sudden changes in your vision must be investigated promptly

* Sweet smelling breath: Again, this is linked to the high sugar levels. If you or your friends notice a sweet smell to your breath, it should be investigated as a possible sign of diabetes.

* Increased Appetite: An increased appetite can be brought about by many factors, but this is may be worth noting as a potential sign of diabetes. Be particularly concerned if your appetite increases while you experience unexplained weight loss.

* Labored or Heavy Breathing: Of course, many respiratory conditions will create breathing difficulties. This, however, may be a sign of diabetes that should not be ignored.

* Stupor or Unconsciousness: This is one of the last signs of diabetes to present itself. By the time that the patient shows these symptoms, it may be too late to help.
You may have cause for concern if you show one symptom or a combination of signs of diabetes. With early diagnosis, diabetes is easily treatable. However, ignoring the symptoms can lead to more serious complications and additional health risks. Be aware of the signs and symptoms of diabetes, and seek medical attention immediately.

How to lose Weight with Hoodia and how to stay Slim

You heard everything about my ongoing struggle with my weight, from childhood until today. Now, to finalise my story, I will tell you all about: How to lose weight with Hoodia - and I also want to tell you how I still manage my weight with Hoodia Gordonii.

When I got my first bottles of Hoodia Gordonii, I had read the few informations and articles which existed about “How to lose weight with Hoodia”, by heart. So, without much delay, I immediately started with the Hoodia diet, just as written on the bottle: about 1 hour before every meal I took the Hoodia together with a big glass of water. At first I took 2 capsules before lunch and 2 before dinner, but after about 6 months, I went down to one.

And that is basically it: how to lose weight is no secret anymore for me, quite contrary, how to lose weight is as easy as eating, if you use Hoodia Gordonii.

But let’s start at the beginning. For the first two days I actually did not feel any less hungry, than I felt before and I thought already that Hoodia was just another scam. (Today I know that it can take up to 72 hours, before Hoodia really connects with the brain.) but then on the third day, my hunger was basically gone and from then on my lunch and my dinner were always considerably smaller than before. “How to lose weight with Hoodia” – it started to get really interesting and exiting.

So I kept on taking my capsules. How to lose weight with Hoodia – although it is easy, it still needs some kind of regularity. Take the capsules one day, not the next two days and then again for three days, is not how it works. For me personally it worked best, the more I stuck to a routine. If I managed to take my capsules for two or more weeks always exactly at the same time, I did not only lose my hunger. I also found my mood considerably improving and I felt generally better. Mentally and physically! I had more energy and I was a lot more active. So, instead of asking “How to lose weight with Hoodia” it should be: “How to improve my life with Hoodia”!

After a year, I was down to the weight I wanted to reach, the task went from “How to lose weight” to “How to keep weight”. I just remembered too well, how quickly the weight was back on the hips, once the diet was stopped. But I found very quickly that there is no actual stopping, because I never changed my food. True, I ate less, but still the things I liked, so even when I was on my target-weight and when I stopped Hoodia, I did not have sudden cravings for something I did not eat for the time of the diet. So, the question, again, could be changed into “How to lose weight by still eating the things you like?”

Therefore staying on my weight was not really all that difficult. I stopped the regular intake of Hoodia and tried to eat normal, but less than before. And on the days, where I felt that hunger and appetite might overwhelm me, I took the capsules again.

How to lose weight with Hoodia and staying at my weight – today it is for me the easiest thing in the world. I found my perfect weight and thanks to Hoodia I am quite able to stay at this weight, within a margin of maybe 1,5 kilos. I always have a supply of Hoodia Gordonii ready and when there is too much craving, I always come back to it. How to lose weight is for me nowadays a matter of maybe three capsules of Hoodia Gordonii a week.

7 Tips For An Easy And Balanced Diabetes Diet

By : Donald Saunders

It is often thought that diabetics need a special diet and that they have to cut out certain food items altogether, or replace them with special "Diabetic" items purchased from health food stores. This is not the case and is nothing more than a clever marketing ploy. In reality, diabetics can eat exactly the same food as everybody else.

Because diabetes is a metabolic disorder and requires the sufferer to control of glucose levels in the blood, diabetics do need to pay careful attention to their diet and must ensure that their diet is correctly balanced.

So, what sort of foods should diabetics be selecting when it comes to creating a balanced diet? Well, here are 7 suggestions:

1. Include a wide range of fruit and vegetables and avoid sticking to just your two or three favorites. One good test to apply to fruit and vegetables is the color test, which simply means that you should try to eat fruit and vegetables that span the colors of the rainbow. So, include a wide range such as bananas, oranges, apples, red cabbage, carrots and beans. Also, include vegetables which are either low in starch or starch-free, such as broccoli and spinach.

2. Wherever possible try to eat whole grain rather than processed food and choose things like whole wheat spaghetti and brown rather than white rice.

3. Add fish to your diet at least two times a week. Fish is an excellent source of protein and also contains a number of essential oils. Try to avoid frying fish, especially in batter, and boil, steam, bake or grill fish instead.

4. Choose lean cuts of meat and bake, grill, roast, braise or stew meat in preference to frying it. When buying meat choose cuts that include the word "loin" such as pork loin or sirloin. When cooking wildfowl and poultry remove the skin before serving and steer clear of particularly fatty meats such as duck.

5. Choose non-fat dairy products such as skimmed milk as well as non-fat cheese and yoghurt. Many people find that these products, although they are a very healthy option, simply any real taste. If you find that this is the case then try to meet the problem half way by choosing low-fat rather than non-fat products and compensate for this by using them sparingly in your diet.

6. Avoid high calorie sweetened drinks and carbonated drinks and try to drink more water and natural fruit juices. Also be careful not to drink too much coffee or tea and add only as much sugar as in needed for taste. You'll be surprised by just how easy it is to cut out sugar altogether if you put your mind to it and you'll end up enjoying tea and coffee just as much as you did before.

7. Finally, cut back on desserts and, while it's alright to eat cake and ice-cream occasionally try to include these in your diet only once or twice a week rather than every day. Also, try to wean yourself away from full cream ice-cream and cakes to lower fat alternatives.

If by this stage you're thinking that this looks like a normal healthy eating routine then you're quite right. There is no such thing as a "diabetic diet" and all that you need to do to control diabetes in terms of diet is to adopt a simple and sensible habit of eating a good balance of healthy foods.

How Effective is Green Tea in Natural Weight Loss?

If you want to loose weight without taking any weight loss pills or cellulite treatments, then there are also some wonderful natural weight loss treatments. One of the most popular among them is taking green tea.

Green tea helps you to loose weight by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning.

Benefits of Green Tea in Weight Loss

• Green tea increases body metabolism. In a report, it has been found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure. The researchers also concluded that that over a 24-hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate by 4%.

• Health experts also reports that green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps glucose regulation. It helps to slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

• Green tea also helps in reducing appetite. It is highly effective in loosing body weight. So it is very good if you want natural weight loss.

• Green tea is also the best substitute for morning tea or coffee. Every morning you unknowingly take mega-calories in the form of tea or coffee. Try to replace it with green tea.

So there are four ways that green tea can help you with weight loss. And you’ll definitely notice the difference in your waistline after a few weeks. Health specialist recommends that 3 – 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. This will help you to burn approximately extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. But before you start taking green tea you must consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Fiber Foods Can Do Miracle in Natural Weight Loss

In a report, it has been found that consumption of fiber foods works very well in natural weight loss. Actually fibers do not get digested by the human digestive system and it passes out from the colons taking all the waste material with it.

It provides bulk and softens the stools thereby helping in regular bowel movements and avoiding constipation. In the intestine, fiber produces a gel which binds the bile acids and this leads the lever to convert cholesterol into bile thereby reducing cholesterol levels.

You will be surprised to know that diseases like obesity, diabetes, colon diseases etc. are minimal in countries where the population has a regular dose of fiber in their diet. Fibers are excellent means to have a healthy digestive system. Fiber makes people feel less hungry on account of its bulk and reduces appetite resulting in natural weight loss. It also helps the body in controlling blood sugar.

The ancient ayurvedic medicine system recommends consumption of fiber rich vegetables in large quantities to get rid of all the toxins from your body. Removal of toxins automatically ensures removal of excess fat from your body.

Foods that are highly rich in fibers are oat bran, corn bran, rice bran and wheat bran. Foods with medium fiber contents are whole grains, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat flour, oatmeal-rolled oats, steel cut oats, wheat-oat flour, corn meal and brown rice.

Foods that are low in fiber and that needs to be avoided are white flour (bleached or unbleached), pasta, cream of wheat, oat flour, corn starch, white rice. One important aspect of fiber and weight loss is drinking lots of water. Water makes the fiber swell and work better.

Obesity or over weight is a problem which is more often seen in the countries which are highly developed and modernized. The reason behind it is that people are today very much busy in making career and money instead of their fitness care and proper diet plan. With the advancement of technology, almost every work in their home as well as in offices is done through automatic machines or computers. So, it reduces their physical work. This is one of the main reasons why people are facing fitness problems.

So, the first thing which you must do is to change your lifestyle. This is very important for the long term success of your weight loss program. Unfortunately, it has now become fashion to take slimming pills or go for cellulite treatments to lose weight.

The results from such programs will never be permanent because your lifestyle would effortlessly put back all the weight. The very moment that these artificial weight loss programs are halted, weight will come rushing back. But when you change your lifestyle then the unhealthy food and weight gaining activities will be eliminated from your daily lives.

Another thing which you must do is to take at least a glass of water half an hour before meals for maintaining a healthy body. The water replenishes the fluids that will be used to make bicarbonate solution on the mucus membrane of our stomach lining. This protects the stomach from being burnt by its own acid fluid. Also a well hydrated body reduces the urge to drink unhealthy drinks which introduce more toxins to your body.

Also avoid sweetened drinks like soda, cola, diet cola, tea, coffee and beer. Eat green leafy vegetable and fruits rich in fiber. It will keep your digestive system fit and healthy. Do not take snacks, biscuits or any high calorie food stuffs.

Instead of taking weight loss pills, you must try some herbal supplement as they are free from any side-effects and are very effective and safe. Number of herbal weight loss supplements is available in the market. So it better to increase your physical activities through exercises and aerobics and taking natural herbal weight loss supplements than taking slimming pills or going for cellulite treatments.

The Health Of High Fiber Cereals

The thought of eating a high fiber cereal makes some people cringe. It's probably because for a long time those cereals did not taste much better than chipped cardboard. There have been many studies that all point to the very important benefits to your health from eating whole grains.

With these studies at the forefront of the health food industry, other cereal producers have gone to great lengths to join in the production of whole grain, high fiber cereals. This has made the selection of high fiber cereals almost confusing in their quantity but does insure that the consumer can find a cereal which is both tasty and healthy. The really high percentage fiber products are still somewhat lacking in the taste department, but those with good taste and sufficient fiber are plentiful.

The cereals with the most fiber are typically the all bran type cereals. Cereals such as Fiber One, All Bran, and 100% Bran are some of the highest in fiber. Cereals like Grape Nuts, Raisin Bran, and Kashi are not as high in fiber but certainly make up for the decreased fiber with taste. A person who wants to eat high fiber cereals needs to learn to read the nutrition labels on the cereal boxes to find cereals that they enjoy eating but are also high fiber.
It's always a good idea to compare a product with one of the heavy fiber products. That way you know how much real fiber it contains. Not all high fiber products are alike, even though the pictures on the box might give the impression of high fiber content. By comparing product labels you can get the real truth about the product.

You can even make your own fiber cereal if you can't find one that you like on the shelves. You simply mix different cereals. Using a plastic cereal container, cereals such as frosted flakes and fruit loops can be mixed with one of the whole grain high fiber cereals. Fruit and nuts can add a lot of flavor to a high fiber cereal.

It's important to not only eat for health, but also eat for enjoyment. Some dried fruits, such as apricots, raisins, and prunes, can be very high in fiber. Nuts also will increase the fiber in the cereal mix. Breakfast can be very tasteful and very healthy with a small bit of creativity.
