Fat Loss Revealed Part 1

Submitted By: Yuri Elkaim

The secrets to achieving the lean athletic physique that you've always wanted are held by Canada's top trainer, Yuri Elkaim. Most people waste a lot of time in the gym with no real direction or positive results. Fitness and wellness coaches, such as Yuri Elkaim know there is a better way.

Yuri is a former professional soccer, Certified Kinesiologist, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the nationally ranked University of Toronto men's soccer program, and considered by many as Canada's top trainer and fitness expert. He's created Fitter U™, the world's only 12-week body shaping fitness program for iPod/MP3 players geared to helping people lose weight, burn fat, and improve their fitness level. In this article, Amy Coates, Total Wellness Consulting's nutrition expert will be interviewing Yuri on various facets of weight loss.

AC: Hi Yuri. What is your general approach to helping people lose fat?

YE: The basic concept for any fat loss program is to burn as many calories as possible and maintain or increase lean tissue (which is what burns the calories in the first place). Regardless of how many calories you burn in training - once you lose lean tissue (a typical problem) you burn less calories overall - so your focus has to be on burning calories while trying to offset that problem.

A study in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition (8(3): 213-222, 1998) showed that 5 days a week of 45 min aerobic training for 12 weeks had no effect on body composition over dieting alone. Obviously even at these high levels of activity there is still a problem.

AC: Where do you start working with an overweight person?

YE: With a full lifestyle and structural evaluation. Typically the overweight person has so little structural integrity that a resistance training program to target their weaknesses and imbalances is my first approach. I also spend a lot of time educating them on the importance of maintaining a positive and unwavering mindset. Finally, I spend a good deal of time looking at their food intake, analyzing the integrity of their digestive system and supportive endocrine glands, and teach them how to prepare healthy menu plans.

It's interesting that the typical program for an overweight person is usually 1000's of reps (i.e. aerobics) which will cause more problems. A superior system would be to target the muscular system and control set duration and rest periods in order to create the same metabolic and cardiovascular demand. My approach is mirrored in the workouts and structure of my Fitter U™ MP3 fitness program.

AC: What type of questions and lifestyle review do you do with overweight clients? Are there any common factors among overweight clients?

YE: Primarily I see people with a lack of knowledge, lack of motivation, and lack of commitment
to sticking to a program. I would say that the majority of what I do lies in motivating my clients and helping them bring their true potential and hidden greatness to surface. Every single person has greatness just waiting to be unleashed and I think it's a necessary step in the process.

Common factors: structural weaknesses, flexibility issues (i.e. they would be unable to walk on a treadmill for 15 minutes continuously), lack of nutrition (funnily enough we see overweight, almost malnourished people all the time), lack of motivation, and need the accountability.

AC: What physical concerns do you have to be careful of when working with overweight clients and how do you take these into account?

YE: Typically the biggest physical concern is that they are overweight and unconditioned. That's a big enough problem right there.

But it's not just overweight clients - it's EVERYONE! Every client is different and presents different challenges.

Everyone should have a full evaluation performed by a qualified professional. Any serious health and medical issues should be cleared by a medical professional first.
Most trainers have a program in mind when someone walks in the gym. I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do until I see the client and evaluate them. If you're not assessing - you're just guessing!

5 Tips For A Healthier, Stronger Core

Submitted By: Yuri Elkaim

Core training has become the new “buzz” word over the last few years as more and more people have begun to realize its role in posture, spinal health, performance and overall aesthetics. What is less commonly known is that the core is anatomically defined as the region between the shoulders and knees, not simply the midsection. Most people view the core as simply being their abdominal muscles and, as such, miss out on a tremendous amount of value that other functional movements provide.

When I refer to the core I allude to the inner and outer units of our body. The inner unit consists of smaller, more static stabilizing muscles such as the transverse abdominis, multifidus, and the pelvic floor and diaphragmatic musculature. The outer unit is comprised of larger phasic (or dynamic) muscles that generate movement such as the gluteals, latissimus dorsi, erector spinae group, biceps femoris, and peroneals. Aside from generating movement, these muscles work synergistically to provide much needed pelvic stability during motions such as walking, running, and so forth. Because all functional movements such as lunges, squats, step-ups, most stability ball movements, and many others revolve around the pelvis, they will offer tremendous core training effects when done with proper technique. The following are 5 tips you can use to train the inner and outer units of your core with maximal efficiency.

TIP #1 – Brace your abdominals

This is the first thing you should be aware of during any and every movement that you will ever perform. Abdominal bracing consists of three parts. First, draw in your belly button as if you were to put on a tight pair of pants. This will activate your transverse abdominis, the body’s waist belt muscle. Second, raise your pelvic floor by performing a kegel (contracting the pelvic floor muscles up as if you holding in a full bladder). This helps to increase intra-abdominal pressure which will aid in spinal stabilization. Third, lightly create tension in your abdominal muscles as if you were about to get punched in the stomach. This activates the internal and external oblique muscles. By performing all three of these actions you will ensure that your spine is well protected through all movements. Abdominal bracing should be initiated before and maintained through each and every exercise. With repetition, these muscles will remember their roles and tend to maintain a tighter constricted waistline, even without you being aware.

Exercise: Belly tucks

Lie face down on the floor with your forehead rested on the back of your hands. Inhale, pushing your belly button into the floor (“ballooning” your abdomen). Hold for 3 seconds. Exhale, drawing your belly button towards the ceiling (as if being pulled by a string), raise pelvic floor, and tighten your abdominal muscles. Hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

TIP #2 – Maintain a neutral spine

A neutral spine is attained when your spine is kept in its natural alignment. This is best achieved by ensuring that your back is flat (with slight lumbar lordosis) during all movements, especially lifting. This, in conjunction with abdominal bracing, is essential to better support the spine during all movements. Let us take the example of picking up a heavier box from the floor. The last thing you want to do in the situation is reach down without bending knees and picking up the box…this is a sure way to throw your back out. What is instructed to do in such a case would be to squat down keeping your torso tall (ie. neutral spine), with your abdominals braced, and lift through your legs as opposed to extending up through your torso. If these lifting mechanics are not met, you place you spine at a greater risk of disc herniation, especially if the load is heavier.

Exercise: Cat/Camel motions

In a four point stance (hands and knees) take your spine through a series of cat and camel stretches. Meaning that you round out the back like a camel and then arch it out like a cat. Repeat 6 times. Once you have completed the 6 repetitions simply allow your back (spine) to relax. Wherever it feels most relaxed is your neutral spine!

TIP #3 – Incorporate unilateral lifting

Unilateral refers to the concept of carrying (or pushing) a load on only side of the body. For instance, walking to work holding your brief case in one hand. By doing so, the body automatically activates its contralateral (opposite) side to stabilize the torso and maintain good posture. Studies have shown that this type of lifting stimulates much greater core muscle activation compared to bilateral lifting (equal load on both sides).

Exercise: Unilateral Lunge Walks

Perform your lunge walks while holding a weight, equivalent to 10% of your body weight, in one hand. Perform 10 reps with the weight in one hand, and then switch. The key is to focus on keeping your torso upright and minimizing and lateral swaying.

TIP # 4 – Use a Stability Ball

Incorporating a stability ball into your workouts will make such a difference in your core strength and spinal health. Working on the stability ball offers several benefits such as increased balance, range of motion, co-ordination, and muscle activation. Simply by sitting on the ball, your core muscles fire to a much greater degree in order to stabilize your body. Any unstable surface for that matter will foster much greater core muscle activation as your body is constantly readjusting itself to maintain proper posture. This type of body awareness is known as proprioception, and is immensely beneficial for athletes of all endeavors, and even for people who want more balance while standing in the subway. Incorporate the aforementioned unilateral lifting and you get twice the benefit! Exercise:

Exercise: Stability Ball 1-Arm DB Chest Press

Position your body on the ball so that only the shoulders, neck and head are resting on it. With the feet shoulder width apart raise your hips so that your body is in one straight line (essentially forming a bench within your body). Squeeze your buttocks together as if holding a $1,000 bill between them. Next, with a DB in one arm, push it up and towards your body’s midline as if creating an arc like motion. Repeat 12 times and then switch arms. Ensure to keep your body and then ball as still as possible. Notice the muscle activation in the posterior side of the body especially in the glutes and lower back!

TIP #5 – Incorporate multi-planar movements

Our bodies rarely operate in one single plane (ie. front to back, side to side). Often, our movements require us to move through several different planes such as when walking and looking back over your shoulder. It is important to remember that all movement stems from the core, especially rotation based movements. As such, it is important to strengthen those core muscles accordingly to ensure movement efficiency and injury prevention. Did you know that 80% of our core musculature inserts on a diagonal. This means that our bodies are anatomically constructed for such multi-planar movements involving diagonal and rotational movements. Examples are throwing, kicking, and swinging a tennis racquet or golf club. I’ve seen clients improve their golf drive by 30 yards by simply incorporating these multi-planar movements into their routines.

Exercise: Cable chop (from knees)

Position yourself in the middle of the cable crossover machine. Face your body at a right angle from the cables. Starting from your knees, keeping your body upright and strong, reach over and across your body grabbing the handle (with both hands) on the highest setting. Keeping both arms straight “chop” the cable across your body from above your starting shoulder to the opposite hip. Return slowly and repeat 8 times on each side. Be sure to drive the movement from your obliques and not your arms.

By incorporating these 5 core essentials, you can look forward to having firmer, stronger and more performant core muscles. Not only that but you will also be more efficient and stable in all your movements. And, if you participate in regular sporting activities you will have an added edge over your untrained counterparts.

Real Food

Submitted By: Jayne Waldorf

The only way to keep up with the latest about Healthy Eating is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about Healthy Eating, it won't take long for you to become an influential authority.

It's really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Healthy Eating. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

Many people think popping a multi-vitamin supplement to get their nutrients is just as good as what comes from real foods. They don’t realize that it is far better to get vitamins and minerals from natural foods and juices. Our bodies utilize the vitamins and minerals from real foods more efficiently. And most people find it much easier to select a variety of whole foods they enjoy eating instead of trying to make heads or tails of the entire selection of vitamin and mineral supplements that are available. And any of us who’ve swallowed a multi-vitamin or a mineral supplement can say without a doubt that the taste leaves a lot to be desired.

Supplements are also difficult for our bodies to break down and use, making it difficult to get the full punch from the vitamins and minerals they contain. Conversely, by consuming plenty of nutrient-dense food to get the equivalent means the nutrients are going to be easier for the body to process and utilize, and less likely to be wasted. We are also processing nutrients throughout the course of the day when we obtain them from food, instead of just getting them from the ‘one a day’ approach.

Many of the supplements available today use fillers and binders to hold them together, plus coatings on the tablets themselves. These are products the body does not need and will not use. Some people find they are allergic to the dyes and fillers used in vitamin pills. However, the body uses the fiber that binds fruits and vegetables. Often the “skin” of a vegetable, like the potato, is the most nutritious part. In addition, sometimes the vitamin and mineral supplements can upset our stomachs, making taking them even more difficult the next day. In many cases, combining supplements can counteract their effectiveness and can produce stomach upset when dealing with the taste and smell of some supplements. On the other hand, a variety of fruits and vegetables enhance the flavor of a nutritious meal and their fiber aids digestion.

If you’re looking to lose weight, eating fresh food is vital to a weight loss plan. Also, eating fresh fruits and vegetables help hair, skin and teeth stay attractive and healthy. And when you think about it, fruits and vegetables are the original ‘to go’ food. It’s simple to grab for an orange, apple, banana, grapes, or quickly toss a few vegetables together for a salad to take to work.

So when you’re looking for well-balanced, healthy, reliable nutrition, don’t reach for the bottle. Reach for the food!

Do You Want To Look Younger And Feel Healthier?

Submitted By: Happy Riches

The one thing that has surprised me is the number of people who put me around 20yrs younger than my 54yrs of age. A bank manager made such a fuss over this just recently that my business partner, who didn't know my age, was so amazed he went home and ordered the products I am taking. Actually, his wife is delighted because by giving a daily dose to her 3 month baby, Ray, all his skin problems have disappeared and she does not have apply ointments and made trips to the medical center.

I can only attribute the fact that people say I look younger than my years to my love of good nutrition, because my brothers and sisters, who dismiss the necessity for taking the powerful supplements I take, all look older than me and I am oldest in my family. My biographical photo at ezinearticles.com was taken 5 weeks ago, so you can be the judge as to what age you think I am. Optimal nutrition is a must in my book and works out much cheaper than having medical bills, poor health and an inability to generate an income that provides a good standard of living because you haven't got the energy.

What really amazes me is how my brothers and sister have numerous health problems and I do not, but they still continue to refuse to get on the program. All I can say is that some people must get a thrill out of going to the local medical center and spending time in the waiting rooms.

Admittedly, I get a kick out of enjoying good health. And what I like about the products that I take is the detoxifying herbs do the work of eliminating damaging pollutants from my blood stream without having any nasty side effects and without the traumatic experience of a sudden detox. Every now and again, I can go on a fast and consume my product three times a day as a meal, because effectively that is what it is, but only much better because all the nutrients my body needs are being consumed. And I enjoy excellent health as a result.

We all need to have protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals every day. However, when studying for a graduate diploma in clinical nutrition, I learnt the importance of having synergistically balanced nutrition. When you add detoxifying herbs into the mix, you have a powerful intake of nutrients and herbs that are able to give you optimum health. This is something that even medical doctors are not aware. Unfortunately, medical practitioners are not taught about good health, rather they are taught about ill-health under the pretense they are going to save the world. But you and I both know doctors are unable to save anybody because death reigns; all doctors do is prolong a person's existence here on earth..

If you are concerned about your health, I would advise you to contact somebody like myself who can help you get a better understanding of nutrition and how your life can be improved through optimal nutrition by consuming a synergistically balanced product.

Stress And Your Whole Body Detox

By John Khu

One of the biggest enemies to any body detox program is not the air that you breathe or the toxins you ingest. What is it, you ask? Stress. That's right.

Stress is Natural Body Detox Enemy #1. Why?

Your body is in such an agitated state that your immune system has to work harder to fight off infection. It gets tired of being overworked and underpaid, and weakens. That's why so many healthy people get sick when they get stressed. Workaholics know what I'm talking about. Being in a constant state of stress also puts them in a constant state of sickness. Your whole body detox doesn't need the added stress, pardon my pun.

The higher adrenaline levels produced from being stressed also affects your digestive system. It simply tires it out. This is why when you feel stress hunger is usually not part of that. This can have long-term negative effects which hinder any natural body detox. Over time, your digestive system is going to produce less of its enzymes, which in turn lower your body's ability to get rid of and process all those nasty little toxins you ingest.

These high levels of hormones and chemicals your body pumps out in response to stress contain free radicals, which, as many of us know, make you more suceptible to cancer and are the nemesis to any whole body detox.

So when you are on a body detox program, be sure to take stress seriously and find ways to alleviate it so you're not sabotaging all the good work you're doing. What should you do to alleviate stress during a natural body detox?

1. Take a bath. Baths are a wonderful way to release stress and purify yourself at the same time. Try doing a bentonite clay bath, adding epsom salt, or a vinegar bath to double duty bathtime and make it a detoxifying as well as a relaxing experience.

2. Breathe deep. When we are stressed, we usually begin to rush. Our heart rate goes up and we begin talking a mile a minute. Sit quietly for a couple of minutes and breathe deeply, focusing on the rising and falling of your stomach with each inhalation and exhalation. Which leads us to the next tip...

3. Meditate. In addition to deep breathing, meditation forces us to slow down. You may want to try using a guided meditation CD if you have trouble focusing. It all starts with paying attention to your breath.

4. Exercise. A moderate amount of daily exercise helps keep you balanced. Stress will be easier to handle when you are healthier. Try taking a walk after dinner or first thing in the morning.

5. Get adequate rest. Like exercise, getting enough sleep at night is key to how you handle your day. Allow yourself at least eight hours to sleep each night. If you don't have enough time for that, it's time to change your priorities.

Following the above tips will not only help during a natural body detox but help keep you healthier and happier the rest of the time, too.

Green Tea Diet: Weight Loss And Other Health Benefits Of Green Tea

Submitted By: Louis Perez

Overweight is one of biggest health problems in the US. Being overweight can lead to many health problems – diabetes, stroke, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, hypertension and fatigue. If you are overweight, then losing weight is great way to prevent some of the health problems. Green tea helps you lose weight and this is healthy weight loss. Besides the weight loss benefit, there are other health benefits of green tea.

There are many fad diets, weight loss pills, low carb diets. Most of the times this will help you lose weight fast but you gain weight after a certain period of time. Green tea weight loss is safe. Decaffeinated green tea does not have the health benefits as the regular one because the process of removing caffeine involves a chemical process and this destroys the health benefits.

Origins of Green tea

Historically, the Chinese have been using green tea as medicinal drink. The general consensus is that Chinese Emperor Shen Nung discovered green tea when he was boiling water and leaves from a tree fell into the pot! Green tea comes from the plant called Carmellia Sinensis.

The green tea has the health benefits because of the way it is processed. Green tea is steamed while processing and thus preserving its natural antioxidants. The black tea processing involves full oxidation and thus does not have the health benefits of the green tea. Both green tea and black tea still have the caffeine so if you are consuming this at night, then this will keep you awake. Caffeine can be harmful for the body since an excess of it can cause heart palpitations, hypertension, and insomnia. Because green tea diets contain only very low levels of caffeine, there is no danger of experiencing these side-effects.

Health Benefits of Green Tea

1. It prevents Cancer. Green tea contains catechin polyphenols especially epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. This is a powerful antioxidant that is known to not only destroy cancer cells but also prevent cancer. The latest studies on green tea were able to prove that green tea diet can effectively protect the skin from damage due to ultraviolet light radiation. Green tea is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against different types of cancers such as stomach cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, oral cancer, cancer of the colon, breast and cervical cancers.

2. EGCG reduces LDL cholesterol (the harmful cholesterol). This prevents the blood from forming clots, which is a leading cause of heart attacks! The study on green tea diets was conducted in China using 240 people with high cholesterol levels as volunteers. They were placed on a green tea diet of one capsule (equivalent to seven cups of green tea) or were given one placebo every day. After twelve weeks, those who were on a green tea diet dropped sixteen percent in their cholesterol levels.

3. The weight loss (or fat loss) is because EGCG in green tea diet increases the 24-hour energy expenditure of the body. A research on green tea diets conducted by American and Swiss scientists in the University of Geneva showed an additional increase of four percent in the body’s natural energy expenditure. People who were on a green tea diet were more likely to use up more fats than those not on a green tea diet.

4. Green tea can also be a potential cure to obesity. The catechin polyphenols present in green tea diets can delay the reaction of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. These enzymes convert calories in the body into fats. By delaying this enzymatic activity, green tea diets can prevent fat from being stored and hence prevent obesity.

As mentioned earlier, green tea contains caffeine that makes it a mild an appetite-suppressant. However, caffeine content in green tea diets is not as high as those found in other caffeine-based beverages, like coffee. In conclusion, green tea has many health benefits including weight loss and fat loss. This method is proven and is natural. There are variations of green diets like the green tea pills, green tea capsules, green tea patches etc. These make it convenient for you to carry them while traveling and could be more concentrated. If possible, try to consume green as a drink.

Drink To Family Health

Submitted By: Robert Walsh

Drink To Family Health… Have A Glass!

Health Professionals continue to stress the importance of eating more servings of fruits and vegetables will help you and your children maintain good health. Drinking 100% fruit juice is one important part of this plan.

Fruit juices are a valuable source of certain vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients (unique compounds found only in plants). Researchers are actively studying these compounds in fruits and vegetables to see how they maintain good health.

The 2005 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Report pointed out the importance and role that 100% fruit juices play in the American diet. They recommended an increase intake of fruits, vegetables, low fat or fat-free milk, and whole grains. The report stated fruit juices provide substantial contributions of several vitamins and minerals are an excellent complement to one’s overall healthy eating regiment of fruits and vegetables. And they went on to say that a serving of a 100 percent juice could be counted a fruit serving. But they cautioned that it never should be used as a substitute for all your fruit servings.

Fruits may be fresh, canned, frozen or dried. They can be eaten whole, cut-up, or pureed. A half a cup (4 oz) of 100 percent fruit juice equals one-half cup from the fruit group. The fruit juice also contributes to the prescribed daily fluid intake.

To determine if a product is a 100% juice check the container label to make sure it states just that….100% juice. This will be located on the label under Nutrition Facts panel.

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is an ongoing food consumption research program that helps health professionals monitor eating patterns over a period of years.

They found that the consumption of 100% fruit juices consumed by children and teenagers were within the acceptable guidelines proposed by the American Academy of Pediatrics. And in their study they found that children and teenagers who consume 100% fruit juices have healthier diets than those kids who do not consume juices.

With the concern of children obesity in this country the study provided no evidence to suggest that there was a link between the consumption of 100% juices and children being overweight. Other research voiced similar findings as well. The American Dietetic Association’s Evidence Analysis parroted the same conclusions.

The conclusion and the good news is that the whole family can enjoy a glass of 100% fruit juice as a part of a healthy diet. For advice about the recommended intake from all the food groups, please visit www.mypyramid.gov. Check the Daily Fruit Recommendations below.

Daily Fruit Recommendations from MyPyramid.gov

Top 7 Tips To Take The Plunge Towards Healthy Habits

Submitted By: Raymond Geok Seng Lee

Okay, you are committed. You have gone public and recruited a few buddies. You know what triggers your binges, and you have devised ways to avoid them. You have successfully maintained your habit without allowing it to get worse. Now it is time to get serious about change. Here are some additional steps and tips that you can consider to take.

1.Grieve The Loss Of Your Old Self

Once you have begun to transform your bad habit into a good one, it is time to bid farewell to the old you. Remember leaving home? You felt excited, but you knew you miss your family and friends. Losing weight or making other life changes has the same bittersweet quality. Give yourself a chance to grieve over the loss of your old lifestyle – even though you know it was bad for you. It is easier to open a new chapter in life when the previous one is really closed.

2.Reward Yourself At Every Step

Part of cheering your own progress involves rewarding yourself, not with a hot fudge sundae if you are trying to lose weight or a shopping spree if you are trying to reduce credit card debt, but with little treats that reinforce your change efforts: a new pair of walking shoes or a phone call to tell an old friend about your progress. Pace your rewards so that you earn at least one a week. Do not fall into the trap of saying, “I will do this or that after I have lost 30 pounds,” Buy some new clothes now. See the symphony next week. Take a vacation soon. You deserve it.

3.Don’t Compare Yourself To Others

No matter how much weight you lose, there will always be people who look better than you do. No matter how well you budget your money, some people will have their finances more together than you do. It does not matter. To jettison bad habits and establish good ones, you do not have to be the best person in the world or even the best person on your block. You just have to change the person you are in the direction you want to go.

4.Be Patient

Tabloid headlines like ‘Lose 15 Pounds in a Week’ train people to be terribly impatient about weight loss. Quick fixes never work. Weight does not come off quickly. If you are not ready to give it time, you are not ready to lose. For those who want to become regular exercisers, here is a good rule of thumb: Calculate the number of years you have been out of shape. For every year, allow one to two months to get back into shape.

5.Pick A Meaningful Start Date

When Steve Purser, the San Francisco health official who lose weight and kept it off, realized that he was prepared to forgo alcohol and substitute walks for desserts, he did not plunge right in. “ I waited until the first of the year. I am not really sure why, it just felt right.” Pick a start date that is personally meaningful to you: January 1, your birthday or the anniversary of some event that pushed you to make your change.

6.Focus On Benefits

Diets are by definition temporary. People never say,” I am going on this diet for the rest of my life. They say, I will try it for a while. When they stop, they regain the weight.” Instead of dwelling on how much you are depriving yourself, remember why you are fed up with being heavy. Mental preparation for weight loss involves refocusing your self-talk from ‘I can’t have this or that’ to ‘I am going to look better, feel better, have more energy and wear the clothes I love.” After a few months of avoiding alcohol and taking your nightly walks, you will be delighted to discover benefits that you would not even imagined.

7.Consider Getting Help

If you follow these suggestions and tips for a year and still feel at the mercy of your bad habit, ask your family doctor for a referral to a therapist who specializes in your problem or to a social worker who can put you in touch with a support group.

Designs And Type Of Facial Masks

Submitted By: Catty

Skin is the human apart that is very important part of the body. It is the part that covers the entire of the body and it is only human organ that have to encounter external environment, which means we have to take a very good care of our skin, otherwise we are going to have very big trouble.

As long as many people is so worry and concern about the beauty. This is really definite that the most important part of skin is facial skin. If compare to other area, facial seem to be the most sensitive, if we physically compared. Apart from preventing facial skin away from that harmful environment, also we have to maintain facial skin condition being healthy.

Therefore, people trying to find the best way of treatment or effective solution for facial skin, which could help to improve and maintain quality of the skin with as minimum risk as possible. One of the most popular tool that many people (especially women) use for removing all of fragment and dead cells of facial skin is facial mask. However, many of you may still unfamiliar with this equipment because it may not widely used but it is actually very good way to maintain skin condition.

We have to understand the nature of human skin produce the new cells to replace the dead cells all the time, and the dead cell will be accumulate on the skin layer. Normally these dead cells will be demolished by normal way of face washing by water or soap, but in some case it is not, we may have to use some kind of method to get rid of these dead cells in order to let the new cells produced and as a result, you will get bright and fresh facial skin. This called facial mask, and when we talk about facial mask design, we normally think about some common design or type of them which can be described as following.

The first type that is very common and popular among many of us is simply like a gel that we have to apply on the face and then wait for 30 minutes and then wash them out. This method called “gel mask skin”. When you wash the gel, these gel will “magnet” the dead cell into its texture and they both will finally be wash out.

The second type I would like to mention here is called “peel-off”. The name of this method is quite straight forward and you can imagine how it works. Yes! It is about having some kind of coating material to apply on the face and leave for 30 minutes, then just peel it off! The same principle as gel mask but for this method seems to be more effective because it can get rid of more number of dead cells.

However, choosing the design or method of facial treatment is very important. You just can not choose by yourself with having advice from doctor or expert because sometimes you may have seen the people who just get the way of treatment that has very negative impact, then it is good to ensure before you start.

Low Carb Foods role in Weight Loss Diet Plan

By Dr Anne

There is possibly no effective weight loss diet plan without including low carb foods in it. Few years back the craze was with low fat or fat free diet for attaining and maintaining a healthy weight. In some ways, this craze was beneficial to health, but in some other ways, it was not.

There is possibly no effective weight loss diet plan without including low carb foods in it. Few years back the craze was with low fat or fat free diet for attaining and maintaining a healthy weight. In some ways, this craze was beneficial to health, but in some other ways, it was not. For example, fat free milk is good for health; however, low fat cookies may offer high calories almost similar to normal ones.

In recent years, the vogue aligns with low carbohydrate or in short, low carb foods. It is quite common to see in grocery shops that there are varieties of foods bearing low-carb labels on them. The list may include the food types of muffins, breads, pizzas, cakes, pasta, sandwiches, tortillas, cookies, beers and many others.

In general low carb diet prevents or strictly restricts bread, pasta and other starchy foods, particularly those foods made up of white flour. But it is not so rigid also; you can still have some bread while maintaining your healthy diet. There are a whole host of low carb foods available in the market. To stay on low carb diet, obesity is not the only condition. You can even switch to it, if you are just calorie conscious. Theoretically, low carb foods offer low calories, so logic says that these foods are helpful in maintaining health.

Research on Low Carb

Some studies claim that people living on low carb foods actually eat more than people in standard low fat plans, however, the former group still loses weight than the later group. However, the report is strongly controversial in nature such as Atkins diet, which claims that low carb foods actually consume more calories.

The research supporting the benefits of low carb diet claims that low carb diets are more rewarding, so they do not feel hunger. According to Atkins diet, people in low-carb, high-fat diets eat more than people in standard diet.

Water Cure

Water is life, water means life we all know that we can't live without water. Water is also necessary to cleanse your system. It helps in maintaining proper kidney and liver functions. The usefulness of water temperature does't really matter. Some prefer cold water, whereas some prefer to stay with lukewarm as well.

Complications during low carb diet

Some people report few common complications during their low carb diet program. One of such complication is bad breath. It occurs mainly due to ketones production. Ketones are produced when body fat is converted into energy. However, not all the ketones contribute to bad health, but many people simply quit from low carb program because of bad breath problem. In addition to bad breath, some people also experience intense odor in perspiration.

Additionally, the experience of leg cramps is also reported by few people on low carb diet. It is typically occurred during the initial phases of the low carb diet program. Inadequate vitamin and mineral supplements are believed to be the primary causes of leg cramps.

Controversy

However in practice, the concept of low carb foods is not what it is claimed. The benefits found from these foods are questionable. Some researchers even claim these foods as a way for nutrition loss rather than weight loss. Some of the weight loss programs suggest replacing carb foods with protein ones, but the level of calorie consumption does't really differ. Moreover, the foods labels do not carry any meaning, because there is no definition of low carb approved by FDA.

The best weight loss tips

By Sumesh

Log onto the internet and look for weight loss tips and you will come across a hundred different websites offering them. There are ‘Top 10 weight loss tips’, ‘Top 50 weight loss tips’ and ‘The best 3 weight loss tips’.

But when you browse through them all, they either have repetitive content or are out there to promote a weight loss company.

They all start off with a testimonial saying ‘How I lost 30 pounds in one week’ and so on. But the question to be asked is, ‘Just because it worked for him, will it work for me?’ The answer to this question is no. I mean, it might just work. But the keyword here is ‘might’. It brings into account a certain level of probability.

In this article, I am pouring my heart out. Being an obese person all my life, I know what it takes to get those stubborn kilos off your body.

Lifestyle changes

Simply eat less and burn more. You don’t need to give me $1000 to get this tip. You don’t need to go through a 2000 page e-book or buy a video tape that shows you cranky exercises. The only thing that you need to do is get a calorie counter and measure the calories that you are eating.

Now get into the habit of exercising regularly and measure how much you are burning. You can start off with moderate exercises like a slow walk. It will be difficult but the end result will be much better than popping miracle pills into your mouth to lose weight. Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Keep realistic goals

Accept the fact that you are obese and it will take time for you to shed those kilos. The faster you accept this, easier it becomes to lose weight. Keep realistic goals. Do not accept to lose 30 pounds in 15 days and so on. Once you have a realistic goal, work towards achieving it and slowly but surely, you will be there.

Fasting is known as the most ancient process to keep your system healthy and to restore health as well. It is indeed a natural healing mechanism. Fasting facilitates a complete cleansing process incorporating each and every cell and tissues in our body. Meanwhile, they resist entering different microbes, pollutants and metabolic wastes. Boost Skin And Joint Health With Natural Supplements

By Darrell Miller

A lot of health conscious adults are now attempting to keep a youthful appearance for as long as possible by exercising, taking growth hormone enhances, and using expensive cosmetics. However, studies have proven that the major signs of aging in the skin, joints, and eyes occur due to a progressive collagen and hyaluronic acid degradation in our tissues. Researchers believe that supplementation of these key nutrients can actually reverse sings of aging.

Normal functioning of the skin requires that there be normal physiological substances in and around the skin cells. Of the many substances that are required for normal functioning, collagen is one of the most important. Collagen provides structural support to skin, which helps to maintain skin tone, subtleness and elasticity. All of these give the skin its amazing beauty. Without enough collagen, our body would actually lose any connective properties and its ability to hold together, causing the sagging and wrinkles that are associated with age.

Hyaluronic acid is also a vital component of the skin's structure. HA is a big part of the space between living cells and is also present in both the dermis and epidermis, where it allows skin to retain moisture and acts as a lubricant between the collagen matrix of the skin. Younger looking skin typically has higher levels of HA, but it has been observed that hyaluronic acid content declines as we age, most dramatically after the age of 50. Most people after the age of 40 have already lost a lot of HA and may require supplementation. High concentrations of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate are able to reach the corium layers of the epidermis and provide cellar level nourishment to the skin. This then reveals a more vibrant and younger looking complexion.

Doctors believe that osteoarthritis affects more than 20 million Americans, with that number reaching 40 million by the year 2020. Some doctors believe we're headed for an epidemic of degenerative joint disease. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition marked by the erosion of the cartilage at the ends of the bones. Cartilage is the shock absorber of the joint, with regular wear and tear on the joints eventually softening, fraying, and thinning the substance. Other things that can cause cartilage degradation and osteoarthritis have recently been identified by scientists, including: weak quadriceps muscles, eroding cartilage, and changes in bone structure. Certain genes also play a role in predetermining cartilage status, and left untreated and unchecked, this can become extremely debilitating.

Since normal joint function requires healthy cartilage and bones, one of the most important substances required for the normal functioning of joints is collagen. As we age, it has been observed that there is a decrease in the production and concentration of collagen in the joints. The lack of this vital structure leads to joint pain and inflammation. Common treatments today include the prolonged use of painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors which temporarily relieve pain and cover up the symptoms while the disease moves further. More often, these treatments worsen the condition instead of helping it due to their harmful side effects. A natural supplement containing Collagen II can not only halt the progression of arthritis but can also improve the condition and provide relief to sufferers.
