Mark Cosmetics is a line of beauty products owned and operated by Avon but aimed at young women and teenagers. The products are formulated for younger skins, the colors are targeted toward a younger demographic and the prices are somewhat lower. Next to the skin care products, probably the best find at Mark are the mascaras. Not too goopy, easy to apply and light enough for a teen or young women. They don't run, they don't clump and they're age appropriate. In short, at $7 a pop, they're a great buy.
The products to avoid are the heavy liquid foundations. Most teens and young women simply don't need a heavy foundation - it clogs the pores, covers up their beautiful skin and often causes more problems than it covers. Instead, try the tinted moisturizer, which provides light coverage without weighing young skin down.
The Mark Company
Mark is sold by independent sales representatives, much like Avon or Mary Kay. That can be a big turn-off for many customers who don't like the pressure of a one-on-one sales experience or the potential pressure of a sales rep hitting on family and friends to sell the product themselves. To avoid this problem, try buying through the website or a trusted friend who is low pressure and doesn't drool when approached by a "prospect."
The Final Word
Overall, Mark Cosmetics are a great buy and at an ideal price point for young women. Unfortunately, the product is mail order or can only be purchased online, meaning you can't simply walk into a store and buy it. For some, they love the personalized service a sales rep provides. For others, they'd rather buy what they want when they want it. That said, if you're comfortable with the sales arrangement, this is a fantastic line for young women.

They are the hardest known natural mineral so have many industrial uses.
Diamonds have been highly sought after since they were used as religious icons in ancient India and they have also been used as cutting tools since ancient times. Their modern popularity however is relatively recent as they have become more commonplace since the 1800's. This due to greater availabilty and increased prosperity, not to mention some clever marketing.

Eating Less? Low Calorie? Low Carb? They Don’t Work, At Least Not For Long

You should be familiar with this question from those around you, “Why don’t you eat less?” Yes, I know, it’s frustrating. They do not understand that you are not going to lose weight simply by eating less. If it were that easy, a search on the term “weight loss” will not return tens of millions of results on Google. The common misconception is that to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you eat. However, this is not true. What actually happens when you eat less or lower your intake of calories or carb, your body goes into starvation mode. Thinking that you are starving, your body conserves whatever intake of calories and carb afraid that it might not get anymore. The result? All these are stored as fats, your body’s energy reserve. It simply uses less and stores more.
Now that will be opposite of your weight loss goals, storing and gaining instead of losing and burning more. You might notice some weight loss in the beginning of any form of starvation diet. These are usually water weight and god forbid muscle mass. It is not healthy to say the least. The healthiest way to lose weight is to burn fats and not lose muscle mass. When you are on any form of starvation diets, you will also notice a significant drop in your energy levels. This is because when your body is in starvation mode, your metabolism slows down. What this means is that your body burns less fat.
Having known all these, what you would ideally like to achieve is this: To feed your body sufficiently so that it doesn’t go into starvation mode, to maintain a high metabolism so that you burn most, if not all of your calories and carb intake. When this occurs, you will feel more energetic to go about your daily tasks, most importantly you do not feel deprived and hungry. The number one reason we cheat on or totally give up our diets.
You may be asking, how can you eat enough to satisfy your body and not feel hungry, and yet trigger your body’s fat burning hormones to burn off enough of your calories and carb intake to accomplish a weight loss? The trick lies in changing your calories intake at specific intervals keeping your body on its toes, shocking it to be at attention and actively burning fats. It does not know when will you be cutting the calories you are feeding it, therefore it burns as though you are having a high intake of calories. Just as it realizes that the intake has dropped and is thinking of switching to starvation mode, WHAM! Your intake goes back to normal levels. Your body will not know what hit it, just confused enough to keep on being a highly efficient fat burning machine!

Understanding Peri Menopause

Most women know that they will experience menopause, and the end of t heir reproductive cycle, at sometime during middle age, and usually between their mid forties and mid fifties. But what many women do not realize is that, even while they are still having regular menstrual cycles, their bodies are beginning to under go the changes which will result in full menopause after several years. These early changes are clinically referred to as peri menopause.
What Is Peri Menopause?
Menopause is the result of the body's estrogen production diminishing, and as the estrogen diminishes, the number of ova, or eggs within a woman's ovaries is also diminished, until the ovaries contain no more ova. As the number of ova drops, the production of estrogen also drops, until it ceases almost completely. At this point, a woman has finished menopause.
The symptoms of peri menopause, during which the decrease in ova an estrogen begins, can resemble the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome to a great degree, with mood shifts which can make peri menopausal women irritable, angry, or depressed. If you are feeling those mood changes when you have never been bothered with PM, they could be a sign that you have entered it and should schedule an appointment with your gynecologist to confirm the diagnosis.
If you have noticed a change in your sleep habits for which other factors like stress or illness cannot account, those changes may be another sign of peri menopause. It can also surface in a decrease of your formerly abundant energy, or insomnia.
Talk To Your Gynecologist
If you want to know what to expect from peri menopause, or think you might be in peri menopause, your gynecologist is the best one to explain it to you. Medical technology has now become so advanced that it can not only determine the presence of the hormonal change which occur with very early pregnancy; it can detect the small changes in your estrogen production which come with the early stages of it.
Many, many women have negative feelings about facing menopause. But if you prepare properly, menopause need not be a major disruption in your life. You can minimize its effects well in advance by changing your diet and exercise patterns as soon as you know you have reached peri menopause.
The worst thing you can do, if you want to have an easy menopause, is to ignore it because it is a reminder that you are growing older. Yes, we are all getting older every minute, but we are also living longer than ever before. Menopause is a change, but that is all it is!
To get the benefits of ridding the body of the toxins, you will need to try to go to the bathroom on a regular basis. By urinating and bowel movements, this will help to get rid of the nasty things faster. Be sure to drink a lot of water and fluids to speed the process along even more. Your Bed May Be The Culprit For What Ails You

Feng Shui can be used in any part of your home or working space, but focusing on rooms that you frequent is a good place to begin. As you will spend much of your life in your bedroom, this is where many people feel comfortable making changes first. The bedroom is not only the location in which we relax and rest, but it is also the focus of relationships and love. Without these things in balance, the rest of your life can become problematic. To begin this bedroom transformation (as well as life change), you will want to consider the Feng Shui bed options that you have and what they mean for your energy flow.
To start off any Feng Shui bed, you will want to look at the headboard structure. The material should be related to one of the five elements – fire, wood, earth, metal, or water. Next, you will want to look at the headboard’s shape to see if it is appropriate for you. Those that deal with a lot of office stress will find that a metallic headboard with a rounded shape is effective for their overall relaxation. Rectangle and square headboards are typical of those that have earth or wood element energy. The strong design of these sharp corners invokes a sense of structure and stability. The oval or the wave shaped headboard works well with the water element. Those that are creative or who are artists or musicians will find this smoothed shape soothing and helpful in promoting new ideas. However, those that are related to the fire element will find that the angular shape this element invokes is not conducive to rest, so it should be avoided.
In most cases, headboards are found in either metal or wood constructions. When looking for a Feng Shui bed design that promotes peace for you, the metal frame is best for those who work in an office setting, while those who favor stability will want to opt for the wood. The wood is grounding and can help with anxiety or pressure in the person’s outside life. But in general, it’s the shape of the headboard that is more important than the material, though if you have a choice, it’s best to find your elemental match.
Other things to keep in mind when choosing a Feng Shui bed headboard include avoiding the use of open headboards as they are not supportive to the sleeping cycle or energy balancing. Mirrors on headboards can also be problematic as they reflect energy away from those sleeping or directly onto those sleeping, disrupting their energy. Designs that include ‘poisoned arrows’ or sharp points that face those sleeping should also be avoided. Headboards that resemble tombstones or denote any sort of violence are associated with death and are not recommended as well nor are headboards with crosses. However, headboards with x’s are fine and suitable.
Moving to the opposite end of the Feng Shui bed, the footboard is something that has stricter rules. It can not be any higher in height than the mattress of the bed as this will block the flow of energy into the bed, creating disruptions for those sleeping there. But lower styled footboards are fine, and will allow for a nice design as well as even flow of energy.
Where you put your Feng Shui bed is nearly as important as which kind of bed you choose. Placing a bed by the window is not a good Feng Shui practice as it allows energy to flow out of it, hurting the energy flow for those sleeping. The bed should be placed alongside a solid wall that prevents this from happening. But that wall should not be one that is shared by the bathroom, as the water energy is draining. Other tips include:
• Do not place the bed underneath a ceiling fan
• Do not have the bed facing the doorway
• Do place a bedroom light to the side of the bed, rather than over the bed
• Do place clocks to the side of the bed
Clutter is another factor that can influence your Feng Shui bed. By having too many things surrounding your bed, you can create problems with energy flow. A dresser at the foot of your bed is a good example of this.
In terms of a Feng Shui bed for your children, a bunk bed is not the best way to go. While it might seem more convenient, it actually causes disruptions of energy with the support bars as well as limits energy of the one sleeping on the top bunk.

Setting powder can be used to prime your face for long lasting oil control, simply apply setting powder, and then apply your foundation on top.

The options of great tasting foods that are fatty, sugary, and full of calories is literally on every block of every city nationwide; however, with the 10 simple tricks below you'll not only be able to cut your calories, but lose weight. These tricks are simple changes you can make, but the resulting effects on weight loss are tremendous, and without further ado.
10 - Keep a journal of foods you eat. Nothing will keep you more honest with yourself and your food selection like keeping a food diary. Make sure you write everything in it and see exactly how many calories your eating daily. Not only will it give you exact numbers to reference but it will make you much more aware, especially when you want that second slice of pizza.
9 - Don't eat 2 - 3 times a day, eat 5 - 6 times per day. I know what your thinking, you want me to more? Well, thats partially true. What you should do is take what you normally eat during those 2 - 3 meals and split it up throughout the day. The digestive process expends a great deal of calories every time it has to cut on and digest food. By keeping food in your body, not only will you feel more full throughout the day, but your digestive system will continue to burn extra calories.
8 - Eat more......... vegetables. Thats right, eat more of those yummy green and yellow things they call vegetables. Not only do they fill you up, but they do so with a whole lot less calories. Take for instance a piece of celery. It has some calories in it but it actually costs the body 10 calories just for eating it. Thats -10 calories on your daily total plus you filling up real food and not going hungry. Don't go overboard though, as you may be tempted to use salad dressings which are typically high in calories.
7 - Don't buy the bad stuff. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Just don't buy the junk food. When your at the grocery store, the movies, a fast food restraunt, don't buy the junk food. Be accountable, and just say NO!

Not only does this make them extra money, but it makes you extra fat. So next time they ask you if you want cheese you can tell them to go to you know where.

There are plenty of ways to go about doing this: for instance use a little less cheese or a healthier crust base for pizza, choose a leaner ground beef or whole wheat bread for that burger, and with the fries make them with a leaner oil base (make them at home, restraunt fries are NEVER healthy).

You have a long day at work, and you start to get hungry, the vending machine becons and their goes your efforts at eating healthy all over again. You probably broke rules 9 and 7 in the process. What you should do to avoid this scenario is to always carry a healthy alternative in case you can't get to and eat a healthy meal. You could go with a nutritious bar, or meal replacement shake, maybe an apple or banana. Heck, if your really committed, maybe even pack a healthy meal to carry with you for the day. Cutting your calories and losing weight is a battle, and for that you need to be prepared and have a battle plan.

Its easy to drink 300 calories in soft drinks in one sitting, and if you just cut them out, thats 2100 calories a week, 9000 calories a month, and 109,500 calories a year. That 109,500 calories is equal to 31 pounds of fat. Think about that the next time you want a Coke or Pepsi.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

10 Lazy Ways To Squeeze A Little Exercise Into Busy Days

There are a lot of us baby-boomers. I think we all recognize that the ease with which we used to discard a few extra kilos, no longer quite works as quickly as it used to in our twenties and thirties.
Many of us also have lifestyles that place greater demands on our time and energy. Some of us are no longer willing to spend the hours at the gym or on the road jogging, like we used to. So here are some ideas for getting movement squeezed into a fast paced schedule. Many of these you may have seen before, however how many have you actually incorporated into your life? It’s always good to be reminded.
Have music I your kitchen or wear your iPod then dance as you cook or do the dishes. Same with any housework activity such as hanging up the washing – go ahead, wiggle those hips! Measure a walking distance in your back garden. Take 4-minute breaks from computer work or any other sedentary activity e.g. my distance measured is 30 metres. Five times each day I drink a 200ml glass of water and directly follow that with 7x30metre walks. This way I get to walk 7 km per week and drink one litre of water daily.
Get a hands-free phone and headset. When having that hour-long conversation with a close friend or family member, walk around the back garden as you chat. Make it a habit for all lengthy calls.
Always take the stairs and always park the car as far from work, as is feasible. Get off the bus or tram a few stops earlier and walk the rest. Tighten your stomach muscles, or raise and lower yourself on your toes to exercise calf muscles, while waiting in a queue.
We used to walk to school by ourselves, several kilometers sometimes. Many parents now drive their children because they say it’s a safety issue. Could you not walk your children or ride bikes to school together? It has the combined benefit of family fitness and time to speak with each other at length.
Quit making use of the moving sidewalk (travelator) at airports if your work involves a lot of air travel. Use the stairs in large buildings instead of the lifts and elevators, even if only for a few of the floors of that building.
Learn a couple of simple, yet highly effective, yoga, Pilates or stretching moves and before leaving your bedroom each morning, use a few of those moves as a 5-10 min. wake up routine. March on the spot while watching television (and you said you don’t have time!), or get up during the advert breaks and do a few stretches or laps of the room. Make it a habit whenever an ad begins. Instead of watching your children play in the playground, sitting on a park bench, get up and push their swing or meet them at the bottom of the slide. Kick or throw balls with them. Walk around the track while you’re watching your children play soccer or athletic training.
Trade baby-sitting time with your sister or best friend. Get them to mind the children while you’re at the gym and vice versa. Is the same opportunity available at work? What could you trade with a colleague to give each other 30 mins. time-out to go for a good walk each day, or few times a week?
I’m sure that while reading some of these ideas it may have triggered a few of your own. Any of these activities are better than just giving in and saying that obesity is your lot in life. All the above is a lazy person’s guide to exercise. Anyone can create a healthy body habit by habit. You do not have to be Tarzan and Jane with the six-pack, at the local gym. Movement is movement. Stagnation is stagnation. Choose!

Acute insomnia can also be caused by certain cold, asthma, or depression medications, physical discomfort, or a slight change in sleeping patterns.
If the symptoms described above sound like you, you will probably be relieved to know that acute insomnia most often subsides by itself, and rarely requires medical attention. However, there are several steps you can take to ensure that you get to sleep more promptly, and stay asleep for longer. Is Vegetarianism Healthy?

Vegetarianism certainly has its rewards but there are risks involved if you're not careful. It all depends on the kind of diet you follow.
There are three types of vegetarian diets, namely, vegan (the rare and true type) where no animal flesh or byproducts like eggs or dairy products are eaten; the ovolactovegetarian, where no animal flesh is eaten but animal products are allowed; and the semi-vegetarian, where no red meat is eaten but poultry and fish may be taken once in a while.
What are the advantages of vegetarianism? Dr. Jack Yetiv, a well-known nutrition expert, said this diet can give you:
1) Decreased risk of heart disease. Vegetarians have a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease than non-vegetarians. The reason behind this is that vegetarians normally have low cholesterol levels than other people. They are also less likely to be overweight and suffer from high blood pressure.
2) Better management of diabetes. Experts say a high carbohydrate intake improves diabetic control. Combined with a high fiber diet that vegetarians enjoy greatly eliminates the need for drugs in some people.
3) Decreased severity of colonic disease. Since they are high in fiber, vegetarian diets can be useful in diverticulosis (the presence of small, saclike swellings in the wall of the colon), constipation, and other colonic diseases.
4) Decreased obesity. Vegetarians are less overweight than their non-vegetarian counterparts. That's because they eat a lot of fiber which is filling but not fattening.
And now the bad news. While all three vegetarian diets have health benefits, the more restrictive vegan diet may spell trouble for some people.
"A vegetarian or fruit diet is safe as long as it provides some protein from dairy products such as cheese and milk or from fish or eggs. The reason for this is that eggs, milk, and animal flesh contain complete protein but most plant foods do not," according to Theodore Berland in Consumer Guide’s “Rating the Diets.”
Vegans are also more likely to suffer from a vitamin B12 (cobalamine) deficiency since this is found in animal foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Lack of this important vitamin may cause neurological and gastrointestinal problems.
Strict vegetarians likewise lack vitamin D which is found in fortified milk and eggs. To remedy this, they should expose themselves to sunlight for about 20 to 30 minutes daily. If not, the use of supplements is advised.
Rickets, another deficiency disease that causes deformed bones and a curved spine, has been observed in vegans. So have calcium and iron deficiencies. Children who adhere to vegetarianism tend to be smaller than omnivorous kids, Yetiv revealed.
"If you are considering vegetarianism, think twice. We human beings change habits slowly. We resist giving up the high calorie foods we have eaten all our lives. Becoming a vegetarian may take a year or so or even a decade. The speed with which you change lifelong habits depends on your motivation, your environment, and other factors over which you have some but not total control," Berland concluded.

Almost every woman wears makeup in an effort to look good.
